I have been searching for a rug for my sons room for quite a while. I fell in love with the ikea Rast rug, but they no longer make it. It was a great deal at $7 and everything else just seemed to expensive after that price. Enter: DIY thoughts.
Found this rug while cleaning out my moms basement. I think it used to be in my brothers room. Price: FREE!Son wanted to help, by running his trains on it! I figured I could half pay attention to him while taping my rug.
Spray painted the stripes on my driveway - finally a day sunny enough to do it!
The finished product! (Please ignore the random ball under his dresser and random object next to his piggy bank. We have been busy...)
Total Cost: $2 for the red spray paint. What do you think? Worth it?
I love this. Thank you so much for sharing! I would be honored if you would link up your super cute blog over on my blog stalkin' page.

That turned out really well. Great site for his train :)
ReplyDeleteGreat job. Turned out really well.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! The stripes are so cute! How many coats did you end up having to do?
ReplyDeleteFound you post on Not just a housewife's party page. Very creative, how is it holding up using spray paint? I just painted a small rug myself with regular acrylic paint.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, that turned out fabulous! I've seen this done on some decorating shows on HGTV, but I was always skeptical. Here's proof that it can be done, and cheap!
ReplyDeleteHappy REDnesday!

Awesome idea, that looks great!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a remarkably job you did with that rug. It certainly made a drastic change for the better. Looks great.
ReplyDeleteThe rug came out great! What a creative and inexpensive way to make something beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteLove it! That's a great idea...that worked. And don't ever apologize for random toys and messiness...you have young kids. We call it "clean clutter". My SIL once told me that you get 5 years per child to have clutter...I no longer have that excuse...but I am still messy!

Definitely worth it! You couldn't buy stripes like that in a store!
ReplyDeletePAINT MY DAY RED!
A seeker of scarlet, they say,
Is likely to savor the day
If painted in red
Or ruby—instead
Of shades of monotonous grey!
